My name is Nataliia Karavan. I am a professional full-time artist based in Kyiv, Ukraine. The art path started after foundation year in Camberwell college of arts, where I've done the research about color movement. After I studied, worked and exhibited in UK, France and China. I searched myself in fashion during the BA course in London and later found the true path in painting. I've got a Masters degree in Art and Design and started to teach art for kids and adults in China and Ukraine. Currently, continue my painting practice and have exhibitions in Brick Lane gallery in London, Carrousel du Louvre Paris, Camberwell art space London, Kyiv Art Gallery. I have my own studio where I paint on an everyday basis. Landscape is my main subject. The paintings are imbued with the vital energy of light, express a sense of freedom, tranquillity and harmony. An aesthetic eye for colour and love of nature drive me to develop artistic practice in an abstract style. I normally work in layers of oils and spray paint on canvas. I create the series of works united by a common theme: pastel landscapes, bright memories, floral extasy. In the series of "Pastel landscapes" I use color combinations of pastel shades and texture what give each painting an aesthetically pleasing quality. Landscapes delve the viewer into the dreamy, nostalgic, happy places. Inspiration for paintings usually comes from within, I pour my feeling and mood on the canvas.
Painting every time leads me to new discoveries as being in the moment here and now. In my practice, I analyze emotions, how to bring them into balance, how to show joy, happiness, tranquility.
