I studied art and ceramics as a major part of my education degree at Sunderland Polytechnic (now Sunderland University) from 1982-86. After graduating, I taught for a while before working as a graphic designer.
Completing an HNC in graphic design at Newcastle College, I worked in advertising agencies before establishing a graphic design business in Stokesley, North Yorkshire.
Since my time as a student, I have continued painting, drawing and producing ceramics.
Together with my wife, Sue, we established 'Galerie JS' in Monflanquin, France in 2016 where we have had a home for many years.
I have exhibited in the UK and France and my works are in private collections in several countries.
