California Watercolors by John Dunnwww.ArtPal.com/johndunn
Born a California Beach Boy, John Dunn adopted the “California School of Watercolor Painting” style as a natural method of artistically describing the visual beauty of the state he loves. He began painting as an offshoot of his first occupation of glassing surfboards. He spent days glassing for Hobie Surfboard and evenings mixing the translucent resins into abstract paintings. The switch to transparent watercolors was as easy as sliding into a four-foot south-swell at Doheny Beach.
John paints original watercolor paintings of local Southern California scenery, painted in the style of such notable artists as Rex Brandt, George Post, Dong Kingman and Robert E. Wood. John’s work is very popular due to its fun loving style, recognizable subject material and is displayed in hundreds of California homes. John has successfully shown at the Balboa Island Museum, Laguna Beach Sawdust Winter Festival, Lido Isle Village Faire, Pinnell Gallery Fallbrook, Cottage Gallery San Diego, PJ’s Art Gallery Newport Beach, The Artery Fallbrook, Easter Parks Fine Arts Redondo Beach, Temecula City Hall, San Marcos City Hall (Blue Ribbon Award), San Diego County Fair (Blue Ribbon Award) and various Southern California Coastal Malls.
