Painting for me is a chance to explore and become lost in creativity. I want my paintings to reflect my ability to tell stories that touch the human spirit.
I like mixing and matching vibrant colors and think of paint as liquid jewels. It feels like total bliss pushing paint across a canvas exposing the interior of my mind. I usually start with a sketch or idea, but rarely stick to it, allowing the brush and colors to take control while shapes and images appear. The idea of “mind to canvas” and not worrying about anything else but what is happening before me feels like freedom. At the end of the painting process, there is nothing more pleasing to me than looking at a painting and feeling a sense of completeness and joy. For me painting is visual odyssey that provides enjoyment but at the same time jolts my senses into interpretation. My goal is to do that for the people who view my work.
I earned my MFA from Carnegie Mellon University, BA from the University of Massachusetts/ Boston and an AS from Johnson and Wales University. I am a published and produced off-Broadway playwright (The Sweepers & Seven Rabbits on a Pole) and novelist (Oliver Pepper’s Pickle). I am a part time college professor and professionally trained chef. My plays have been produced across the United States.
