I am from Singapore and I am a Chinese. But now I am residing in China, a small city called Rizhao in ShanDong Province. I previously worked for Singapore Airlines but now I am retired. I have been painting since young but only become serious about 35 years ago. I do both western and Chinese paintings but over here I posted only my western art pieces.
You may be wonder why I moved to China? There are two main reasons, one is that my wife is Chinese national, the other is because of my painting. China is a vast nation with 5000 years of culture and history. All my paintings you see here are produced after I have moved to China. It is the environment and the art scene in China that propelled my paintings to a higher level of accomplishment. Compares to China, Singapore is a very boring place for art, though I love Singapore but it is a city state with no seasonal changes. The trees all year round are green, no other colors but green. The flowers all year round are the same with very limited variety. The art scene in China is also much more vibrant than Singapore which pushed me to do better and put more thinking in my painting. Let me tell you a small story here; I admire Van Gogh's Iris but I have never seen a live iris until I moved to China. There were planted all over the place just under my apartment in Rizhao. When I saw them the first time, I was so amazed and spent hours looking at them. It was liked finally I know what Van Gogh saw in them. And, you can see I have three Iris paintings in the seven paintings I posted here.
