My art is composed of an array of various repurposed materials, and finds inspiration from many diverse sources. Typically, I may use wire, cardboard, hardware, wood, and copper pipe among other substances along with simple media such as acrylic paint and crayon.
While having no formal art training, I was inspired to begin making art when I retired, by braising copper pieces using plumbing and other repurposed materials. Growing up with limited resources, I have never wasted materials.
I have been at this 3 years and have built an inventory of copper and mixed media sculptures and assemblages, later expanding to 2D works with photos, crayon encaustic and acrylic paints. Recently I have made surf art using tin cans and cereal boxes. Much of my work is inspired and related to the ocean and a lifetime of surfing. Fun, whimsy, and humor often find their way into my work.
