I am an artist living in Montreal. I began painting in the early '80s when I was living in Vancouver. I was always interested in art but it took me a while to go for it myself. I went to study Fine Art at the University of British Columbia.

I have always been fascinated with space. I find it just incredible that we have those images from the Hubble telescope. But I do love the grace and beauty of ballet so it was natural that I would find a way to join these beautiful gifts.

I also love painting people. Sometimes it has been people in my life and more recently I come across a moment in a show which moves me. I take these moments and turn them into art.

I have lived a varied and sometimes difficult life. These ups and down and struggles are what make us who we are. They give us depth and they give us vision. Over time my vision has changed. I used to be more painterly in my art. My paintings have reflected a mystical streak. While I don't care for organized religion I am deeply spiritual. I do want this to come through in my paintings as this is the essence of who we are, of who I am.

When a body moves in harmony with the gasses in a nebula in stunning colours then I feel that this is coming from my heart. Similarly when I do achieve this essence in a portrait then I feel that I am reaching the spirit of the person, but even more that I am expressing the depth of humanity, of the humanity of the subject at that moment.

I bought a good printer but it only prints up to 8.5 x 11 which gives a print of 8 x 10. So you are better off buying from Artpal. I see that they offer high-quality papers and inks. Imagine my joy at sharing them. It opens my heart.
