“Color, light and shadows. That is what my work is all about. Taking the ordinary and making something extraordinary.”---Jeffrey Carter Kelling, speaking about his work.
An American painter and storyteller, Jeffrey Carter Kelling creates visually stunning images of everyday life. Working in and with a variety of media, Kelling is a master of narrative. One can see this in his drawings, his paintings and his collages. His paintings are like fireworks of color, his drawings reflect his love and mastery of pencil, pen and ink in portraits of Albert Einstein, Dylan Thomas and others, his collages become intricate stories pieced together from hundreds of found items.
After receiving a scholarship from Tufts University/School of the Museum of Fine Art and a degree from the San Francisco Art Institute, Kelling was able to begin his lifelong dream of becoming an artist.
A native Californian, he presents a style of painting uniquely his own for art collectors around the world. In style, subject matter and quality, Kelling’s creativity and versatility reach out to treat us to his exciting and new vision of people, places and things. Kelling resides in the Bay Area with his family, a constant source of inspiration and support.
