Jerome Blanchard's artworks

Jerome Blanchard's artworks

Visual Artist/ Painter.
My work is focused on these subjects : the natural world, astronomy, art history (pre modern art starting from the mid medieval era 11th-12th century), history , music.
I have a master degree in history and geography which has a deep impact on my artwork , and I studied art on the side.
My nationality is french from Normandy, France and I'm currently resident in Connecticut, US.The town of Avon where my studio is.
I use light effects , extremely careful compositions, high contrasts, in harmony and balanced for a smooth immersion in the artwork. After all the natural world is not chaos but order in my opinion.
I want to achieve a relaxing, majestic, magical experience from the viewers point using the inspiration I get from looking at the night sky, listening music- classical, traditional, medieval music, extreme genres of heavy metal like black metal- hiking in the different places I love to be. in Europe or North America so far with my Nikon DSLR camera picturing landscapes in extreme high level of details and precise beautiful sharpness. I don't draw sketches outdoor but drawing is central and in my studio I practice it with regularity. It's a strict discipline with no space for error and correction with ink, with less freedom than painting I believe but it's an important effort that should not be underestimated. I do linear drawings for its elegance and clarity and that's how I enjoy drawing.
To conclude, a poem to describe my work :
"Elevation" by Charles Baudelaire :
"Above the lakes, above the vales,
The mountains and the woods, the clouds, the seas,
Beyond the sun, beyond the ether,
Beyond the confines of the starry spheres,
My soul, you move with ease,
And like a strong swimmer in rapture in the wave
You wing your way blithely through boundless space..."
