First of all, thanks for taking the time out to look at my work and hope you're enjoying it.
I'm very much influenced by Graffiti/Urban Art and love the textures on the walls, as well as the art itself. I've tried to recreate those textures in my paintings. I'm interested in immediacy and 'gritty' feel of stencil art and wanted to transfer that to these pieces, as some graffiti artist had pulled up a stool in some decrepit subway, somewhere in the world and spent the evening creating an oil painting.
A little bit about myself.
I have until recently been working in the film industry for the last eight years in a variety
of roles in the art department at Pinewood Studios and Elstree Studios, doing illustrations,
designing etc. Previous work includes 'Kick Ass','Xmen: First Class','Revolver','Alexander',
'Nanny McPhee', 'Elizabeth' (HBO Special), 'Exam' and 'Johnny English Reborn'. (See IMDB)
I also had success prior to my career in film, making animated shorts, and produced a film
called 'The Entomologist' which went on to be selected for nomination for the BAFTA Short
Film Awards and 'CAN' Short Film Festival. You can view work from the above at my
website at: www.jasonetienne.net
I used to exhibit some of my paintings at the Parkside Gallery in Richmond, UK in between my
film work and had an exhibition of my work in 2007 at Gallery S in Matlock, Derbyshire.
As well as painting, I teach concept art for video games and media at various colleges part time in the UK.
