My artworks show what I feel when I am in nature. Displaying exactly what I see is not important, it's about giving you the feeling I had.
Nature is fragile and comes under increasing pressure from the consuming human being. At the same time, nature is also very strong and fights back continuously. Actually, it's quite bizarre that everywhere on earth man is fighting nature, trying to impose his will. And that whilst we are completely dependent on that same nature.
With my works of art I hope to stimulate and tease more than just your sight. I hope to achieve that you feel what I felt when I made the artwork; the light, the temperature, the atmosphere.... Sometimes even the smell of a damp autumn forest and the cold of the swirling salty breath of a storm on the beach of the North Sea.
In this way I ask you to reflect for a moment on the nature around you, on the beautiful feeling that nature can evoke, on what we lose when we continue on the road of 'never enough'.
When I’m outside to photograph, I first look at the light. Then I look at the large surfaces, call it the rough composition, and the colors. Only then do I look at the details, and especially to determine what I want to omit from the photo. And the latter determines whether the artwork becomes abstract and minimalistic, abstract realistic or impressionistic.
In addition to my fine art photos, you will also find a collection of Urban Abstracts here. These are a bit older, but not published before and only available at ArtPal.
