MESSING AROUND WITH A CANON SCANNER YIELDED THESE CREEPY IMAGES

I wouldn't necessarily call them photographs - there is no film plane and no lens involved in the capture of the image. There is also no means to set exposure. Composition is hit and miss and mostly determined by guesswork. These are the limitations of using a flatbed scanner to create images of 3 dimensional things.

I captured comical images of faces but one look and I immediately sensed that there were creepy scowls hiding underneath the veneer of comedy. It would take Photoshop to unearth them.

All that aside, I really enjoyed "making" these images and writing the accompanying literature. What I really enjoyed though was the breezy afternoon I spent with my son with an LIDE Canon Scanner, and the loads of laugh we got while executing these images.
