Fernanda Ponce was born in Lima, Peru and immigrated to the U.S. when she was a child. She lived in Florida her whole life and worked hard to get into the University of Florida in 2009. Fernanda graduated from UF in 2014 with a Bachelors of Science in Communications, concentration in Political Science and minor in Theatre. She was always a fan of the arts and creative community; always into abstract art and painting. However, she was recently diagnosed with a very debilitating condition that put her out of work for a few months. She was working as a videographer for a local news station but could no longer keep that job because of her health. That's when Fernanda Ponce decided to start experimenting in the arts. Her art comes from a very special place; her emotions and love for nature. She has always counted on nature to give her peace during hard times but when that was no longer possible, she turned to art. Her art helps her escape the reality of her health, which is impacted every day by Narcolepsy with Cataplexy, a very rare and awful condition that almost took her life a year ago and changed her future forever. Her artwork helps her cope with her chronic illness by providing ways to help her make a living to provide medication and treatment as well as pushing her to inspire others in the arts to keep painting and using their creativity. At 26 years old, Fernanda hopes her artwork inspires others as much as it has inspired her to keep fighting despite her life long diagnosis.
Thank you for visiting and hope you like her artwork.
