Born as Humphrey Banda, the artist has a B.A In Public Administration with Sociology from the University of Zambia. He adopted the name HB Mfumu as his artist name for distinction and easy recognition in 2017. He is self taught, and loves to create and present his paintings from real life events using imaginary visual objects as well as phisical objects. He Likes to live things as they where, as they are and as they could be or would have been by exploring reality, the present and knowledge as there are infinite possibilities in the universe. At a young age of about 7, he was always fascinated with drawing and so he has been sketching since around that time. His journey of painting in the artworld started in 2017 when he created his first painting exhibited at the Livingstone Art Gallery and have ever since been creating more pieces, usually working in series but occasionally one of a kind artworks.He is a member of the Visual Arts Council in Zambia but as well as presents his artworks with different art galleries online.
