Painting is something which I've done most of my life.
Oils, water color, and acrylics are some of the media
I have worked with..
Sometimes I paint outdoors because there are so many beautiful
landscapes all over Sonoma County in California where I've lived for the
past twenty years. I especially enjoy watching the seasons change.
The colorful leaves which fall in the autumn, the brilliant
sunsets in the heat of summer are always inspiring subjects.
Other times I like to work from subjects indoors or to portray
images from my imagination.
I have taken numerous art classes at the local Junior College
in Santa Rosa and various workshops in plein air landscape
painting.
There are many schools of painting which I've always been drawn
to. The Impressionists and post Impressionism have always been my
favorites.
Modern abstract
art is something which I have always enjoyed. I do not feel I follow
any one school. For me, the pleasure comes just as much in the
process of observation and the applying of the paint as it does in what
may unfold on the paper or canvas. I look at it as an experiment and
attempt to follow my instincts as to colors and subjects.
There is always so much to see and to learn that I can not
imagine tiring from it as a way to learn from past artists or to look
at the world. I hope you enjoy viewing the pictures which I have
posted here.
