Behind the Glass

One warm and sunny day in Bakersfield California in the spring of 2015, I frantically raced to my car after a long afternoon of classes, just to brave five o'clock traffic to get to work. Little did I know that that day was the day I would find my passion, stained glass painting. At this time, I worked at a local mom and pop's craft store who encouraged their employees to make product models and for some reason I gravitated towards the sad and neglected glass paints. Several times there was discussion of getting rid of these products, but I did not want to give up on them. So I decided to make a model with them. Mind you, at the time I had no idea what I was doing, and I have always admired stained glass, so why not try to paint it? The result was a massive 24"x30" mermaid. This mermaid started a fire in me that is still going. Throughout the years, I have continuously stained glass paint, but mainly creating them as gifts and leaving it at that. From 2013 to 2017 I was getting a bachelors in art history and working at that craft store. Then when I moved to Los Angeles to obtain my masters in history from 2017 to 2019, I was also working as a librarian at a Jewish academy in Beverly Hills. So there was little spare time, it all went to driving three hours a day in Los Angeles! However, I moved to Idaho Falls, Idaho after graduating with my masters to start my life with my fiancee and I want to pursue what makes me happy again, art. Specifically painting stained glass pieces and watercolor scenes. I hope you share the passion with me and enjoy seeing my work! Thank you for listening and for visiting this page, I appreciate your time.
