CARMEN BEECHER grew up in a tiny Florida town, but saw much of the world while working for the US Air Force. She lived in both Bermuda and the Azores Islands for many years, so it is little wonder that her fascination with water is evident in much of her art. She has been a secretary (she types really fast), Quality Assurance Evaluator (that annoying person with a clipboard), Program Analyst (what they call you when they can't figure out what to call you), and graphic illustrator (finally her perfect job). She has paintings in the Pentagon’s Air Force Art Collection. Retirement from her Air Force job has meant freedom to pursue all forms of art, and recently she illustrated a book, "Country Music's Greatest Lines," with 81 drawings. She also wrote and illustrated a children's book, "Dibble the Dragon." Her work, River of Tears, about her father’s struggles with alcohol, was selected for exhibition in the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine Art and Addiction 2008 Juried Art Exhibition, and was included in the book Addiction and Art. Her freelance work includes book illustrations, comic strips, magazine covers, murals, and credit card designs. Her paintings and her process were featured in the March 2012 International Artist Magazine.
