Tom Jennerwein was born in 1953 in Bethesda, Md., but was raised on the coastal shores of southeast Connecticut and R.I. He learned to appreciate art at an early age, observing his grandfather paint. He is a self taught artist and has been influenced by many artist in one form or another. His inspiration comes from the temporary play of light on common places and objects. Composition and design with emphasis on tonal balance and color harmony, infuse his paintings.
He currently works as an R.N. at a local heart and vascular lab. After hours, Tom manages to produce many local land and seascapes, as well as, figures and still life with watercolor or oil in his studio and outdoors.
Aside from commission work, his work has received the Marion Tetlow award from the MOAF, 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize awards from local venues and galleries. He is a member of the Mystic Museum of Art ,past member of the Artist Coop of Westerly R.I. and recently was juried into the 2016 International Marine Art Exhibition at the Mystic Seaport Gallery.
