About my work:
There are 2 basic concerns I address with my pottery. First, the shapes of
the pots. I am heavily influenced by the work of Gertrude and Otto Natzler, Hans
Coper, Mark Pharis, Bernard Palissy, and pre-columbian and other older ceramic
traditions. Right now I am focussed on the pourer or pitcher form and am
exploring this basic body shape with spout and handle. Secondly, I have been
using ariel images of farmland I sketch while flying. I find these "marks" we make
on our landscape intriguing and am continuing to explore how these images
change into emblems or logos as abstract designs and how they fit into the whole
of the pot.
