Award winning artist, Dagmar (van der Meer) Howe was born in the Netherlands (Holland) and immigrated to the United States in 1954. She studied art briefly in high school and continued her studies later in life when she attended classes at The betty Blue Art School of Seminole, FL., the Cummer Museum of Arts in Jacksonville, Fl., and at Florida Community College of Jacksonville.
Dagmar has had the privilege of displaying her artwork at the Fairmont Medical Center, the Fairmont Opera House, and the Red Rock Center for the Arts in Fairmont, MN. She has earned a collection of awards (ribbons) for her artwork at local art competitions.
She continues to develop her skills as an artist using oils and acrylics. She likes textured and interesting backgrounds, realistic subject matter, and is sometimes inspired by whimsical pictures and ideas.
She also enjoys encouraging other artists to develop and explore their own artistic abilities. She has taught art workshops at the library in Middleburg, FL., at pre-teen summer camps at Ironwood Christian Retreat in Stewartville, MN., at Goldfinch Estates Senior Living Center in Fairmont, MN., and at the Red Rock Center for the Arts, also in Fairmont.
