Jennifer M. Gerke is a self-taught artist that discovered her talent when she
was 10 while on a trip to South Dakota with her Grandparents. At one of
the stops on the way she asked her Grandfather to buy her a book with
pictures of horses. She then started to sketch one of the horses and that is
where the journey began. She was not aware at the time where that would
lead. Throughout the years in school she would draw things that she had
interest in, cars, motorcycles, animals, etc. In high school, she took a
couple of art classes to just pass the time. Her work started mainly with
realism color and pencil drawings. Transitioning into charcoal was a unique
way to express her view of art. Without the color, all that is seen is the
actual story. This passion for art went hand and hand with her love of the
outdoors. Exploring the desert to find forgotten places no one can see from
the road. Blending the two she creates her art to bring lost history back to
life and share visions that will soon fade to non-existence.
