Gary R. Caldwell | CADesign, Art & Photoswww.ArtPal.com/garycaldwl
My educational background is that of an Architect, Health-Care Management Consultant, and a Graphic Designer. Like many people, I liked to draw, paint, and sculpture as a child and young adult. As an undergraduate in architecture and graphic design I was exposed to drafting and drawing classes as well as watercolor and gouache painting along with charcoal, colored pencil and pastels. I especially found watercolors intriguing and determined to learn more about watercolor techniques.
However, life and work intervened, and I didn't get back to steady watercolor painting until I retired. Also, during my working career I became fascinated with photography, which I did a lot of in my occupation and work and play travels.
When I retired I pursued two major directions with my art: 1) I went back to college to take more art, graphic design, computer graphics, and photography classes, 2) I started to volunteer at the Palo Alto Senior Center, teaching computer aided photograph enhancement and took watercolor painting classes. Since that time I estimate I have painted more than 200 watercolors and taken numerous photos. I have painted watercolors in various styles, I started out painting principally architectural, nature, and landscape themes for a majority of my pieces. However, I am still evolving a painting style and am experimenting with other themes and styles of painting. I belong to many art clubs and continue to attend many other artists' demonstrations and artists workshops.
