As an artist, Mqhayi is a confident painter who has developed an idiosyncratic style that many artists take years to achieve. Using oil and acrylic paints, he renders the everyday with sensitivity and the human condition with warmth and sympathy. He is a former member of the Guguletu Youth Brass Band, with years of film industry experience, Mqhayi lives and works in Delft, Cape Town.
