Visual Artist, Elysia Larson, wishes to revive meaning to fine art with two-dimensional works. Calligraphy. Portraiture. Landscape. Symbolic images.
Born in Grand Forks, North Dakota, and raised in Minneapolis and Fergus Falls, Minnesota, Elysia Larson creates artwork that reflects the beauty in the people and places she has been privileged to encounter.
A neighbor friend inspired her to begin drawing realistic portraiture at the young age of eight, and her father's gift to her of a book "Drawing a Likeness" by Douglas R. Graves gave her the skills to pursue her interest in two-dimensional fine art.
Elysia graduated from Concordia College, Moorhead, MN with honors Summa Cum Laude with a B.A. in Music Education, minoring in Studio Art. She is a soprano singer and piano/guitar leader in her church. She sang with The Concordia Choir under the direction of Dr. Rene Clausen for three years.
Elysia has lived and taught in three countries. She taught in Bangkok, Thailand K-12 art classes at International Community School. Later she lived in Ukraine and Hungary for four years with her family. She currently resides in Zimmerman, Minnesota, with her husband and four children. Elysia's artwork includes watercolor, oil, pen and ink, pencil, and calligraphy. She enjoys creating portraits, countryside landscapes, and symbolic images.
