birdbrain is a project to create and distribute The Long-term Guide To Surviving Sexual Assault. Founder Maegan Carberry discovered that crafting mitigated her PTSD symptoms when she took a sewing class. She decided to make 100 dresses for inspiring women in her life and to document the experience. The project is named after Anne Lamott's book "Bird by Bird," which is a favorite of Maegan's. It's about patience and good writing. Each dress features an original bird drawn and hand-embroidered by Maegan. When her friends asked how to support her journey, she decided to sell a few original prints of her drawings. birdbrain is a registered CA non-profit corporation, so save your receipt!
