I've been an artist almost all of my life. More than anything, what poignantly gave me profound desire to paint was a painting by Rousseau which portrayed a woman next to a lion in the jungle that I saw in the Museum of Modern Art in New York when I was teenager. At that time, the idea that I could be that strong, to be sitting there, next to a lion, without fear, inspired me to always be courageous and strong in my life. I wanted to be able to uplift and inspire other people as Rousseau had me.
