My husband Gary Coulter introduced me to the bronze world by letting me work on his pieces. I was a painter, but learning all the processes to do a bronze was fascinating. My husband did the National Fire Fighter Memorial in Colorado Springs, "Lamentations" and "Somewhere Everyday".
When I did my first piece it was when I lost my son at the age of 14. I had come home one day from work and Gary had a grieving angle in clay over his monument and told me I was going to be doing my first pieces so I did two smaller angles. It helped me get through a very devastating time in my life. The hospital in Hays, KS, commissioned me to do a piece after they had seen the monument and that was when I sold my first bronze.
Gary has did sculptures all over the US. He has a Police Memorial and War Memorial in California; sculptures in New Mexico, Nebraska, Kansas.... He passed away November 10, 2000 from cancer; my son November 21, 1998. I have unveiled three of his life size sculptures in Nevada, Kansas, and Nebraska.
