Dave O'Brien (OB)

Dave O’Brien explores a blend of pop-realism through a variety of materials and mediums in each one of his paintings. O’Brien, with an appreciation for art an early age, is self-taught and only began painting in December of 2015 as a means of providing Christmas presents for friends and family members.

The Pittsburgh native debuted his first work in March of 2016 when his Pittsburgh Irish was selected to be featured on the Official Pittsburgh Saint Patrick’s Parade t-shirt. More opportunities arose when O’Brien’s art was found on Full Pint Brewing beer tap handles and a designer clothing line called, VIDA. In thr fall of 2016, O’Brien experimented with live paintings curated by Redfishbowl™, FAMEE LLC, Healthy Ride Pgh, and Pittsburgh Beautiful, but has most recently created a series of videos displaying his passion found on his social media accounts. His artwork has evolved from Keith Haring-inspired city skylines to a more recent iconic pop-realism purple Pittsburgh legends publicly installed at the Carnegie Library of Downtown Pittsburgh. The artist often creates at least 5 installations a week with a bright, colorful and vibrant twist on Pittsburgh, it’s people, and music while highlighting a local theme.

O'Brien's work has been called fast-paced, interactive, and joyful. Painting and teaching experience have been huge factors in community outreach and interaction with the Pittsburgh Artist.
