About the Artist:
Daniel Ravel moved with his parents to the North Side of Chicago at the age of 7. He was raised alongside his three younger brothers and sister. He attended grammar and high school in Chicago, and later graduated from the University of Illinois with a B.S. degree.
He fell in love with photography in 1979. Back then he enjoyed shooting Kodachrome 64 in his Nikon FM and F3 cameras. He has been an avid photographer ever since, focusing now on fine art photography.
Daniel enjoys traveling around the world, and many of his photographs suggest foreign adventure.
Ravel's images emphasize shape, texture, contrast, light and shadow - leaning toward the abstract. His artistic style has been strongly influenced by Edward Weston, Paul Strand, Bill Brandt, and Imogen Cunningham.
He currently lives in Fayetteville, North Carolina.
