My name is Clare, as you've already seen. I live in Cheshire, in the North of England. I was a Physiotherapist and mother, for twenty four years, and Justice of the Peace - Magistrate. I have a husband, and two grown up sons, and my adoring Poodle, Bailey. My life was a busy whirl, and I felt like I was on a hamster wheel. I had a private practice, and worked for a Cancer charity. I became ill over a few days, which worsened to such a degree, in 2011, that by the time an ambulance came for me, I was unable to stand up, or walk. I had no idea what was wrong, but I knew it was life threatening. At the hospital I was rushed in, seen immediately, and told I had Guillain Barre Syndrome, an auto immune disease that hits the neurological system hard. I gradually became paralysed up to my waist, over the next couple of days, and then as the disease waned, it affected my trunk, arm, throats and facial muscles. Anyway, I did not recover well, and it has left me being able to stand for only short amounts of time, and unable to walk more than about twenty steps without tremendous pain. I get around by scooter, and try to change the way people view disability.
SO, I had already started to paint, and had taken some art classes in the evening. My grandfather was an amazing artist,as was an Aunt. I started painting (sitting down), and then also began experimenting with digital art. I love bright colour, and the way it uplifts you, and transforms your mood. My house has lots of my art on the walls, and the best bit, is that digital art is affordable. This enables it to be accessible to all, and also means that it can be changed, as your tastes change. I am now seeing life very differently, but often in a very good way. I love nature, being in the countryside, being creative, through Art, sewing, and cooking. I appreciate many things that I did not appreciate before. I no longer am a Professional, but an Artist, and I am very happy with that!
