Cottonwood Arts Studio

Hi! Thanks for checking out Cottonwood Arts Studio! Artist, animal lover, athlete, and world traveler, I am a former college English teacher who now is lucky enough to spend most free days painting with encaustic wax.

I discovered encaustic art several years ago and fell in love with the medium: vibrant colors, rich texture, the unpredictable nature of the wax and's all so much fun and challenges my creativity. I get to play in my outdoor studio heating medium, blending liquefied colors/pigments and applying it all to wood. I also get to light things on fire :)
During all of this, my 3 dogs are frequently sitting somewhere close by. They are my biggest fans!

Whether I create an original abstract work or render something identifiable - like a flower or figure - my greatest pleasure is knowing another person values my artwork and wants to own a piece or gift one. Sending my encaustic painting out into the world and knowing it will bring someone joy fills my spirit with happiness.

If you visit my little shop, please say hello! If you see something you like but want it customized (bigger, smaller, different colors) ... just ask! I also love to talk about my medium and process. So many people are not familiar with encaustic art - but it's been around 2,000+years and is incredibly durable.
