C C Harrison
Amazed by a Remington painting in my early teens gave way to my first serious thoughts about painting. The vibrancy achieved through paint never left me. My awareness of the art world expanded, and now Rockwell and Rembrandt had a whole new meaning.
Constantly experimenting with graphite and pen and ink, along with dabbling with oil color, I was led to a first experience with acrylics by a college professor, who changed my whole focus of expression.
Realism is my style but does not play a major role with my subject selection. I try to portray the first attraction, the combination of light, shadow and color and all their subtleties as an interaction with the subject, leading the viewer through the painting. The intent is to have the viewer experience and enjoy, as I do, the interplay of the color variations, whether it be a small section or the painting as a whole.
