CLAUDE IDLAS – PAINTER
As a child Claude Idlas had been drawn to art and paintings and had learned the art of ceramic from her father
What is captivating about Mrs IDLAS ‘’ work is the feeling one gets of her physical and spiritual roots that shine through.
Provence is deeply engraved in her psyche, while Matisse and Cezanne are part of her consciousness. Not unlike a powerful sponge, Claude absorbs their heritage andemerges with her own victorious oil on canvas.
The art of Claude Idlas is all about color. Very deep nourishing pigments of red, blue and yellow patches laid lovingly with a skillful palette knife, or an occasional cares of a brush.
Cezanne had once said that no painting is ever finish. Claude's works is true to that saying in the sense that her simplicity leaves the art lover hungry for more. More color, more of her floating forms and rugged landscapes. In terms of art history she is not an innovator, Claude carries the gratifying burden of the ancient fire keeper that had to guard the flock and search for new vistas to keep the flame burning.
The legacy of Claude, who left us in october 2014, is one of a joyous sensation in our heart and a sense of wonderment at the sweetness of simply being alive.
