San Cristobal, Old San Juan, Puerto Rico. This fortress took over 150 years to build and was completed in 1765 by the Spaniards. Named after the saint patron of land travelers, Saint Christopher, San Cristobal is considered the largest fortress built in the Americas. It is truly a masterpiece of innovation and engineering of the 18th century. This small lookout gives a glimpse of the coastal horizon and I couldn't help but wonder who might have been peering out hundreds of years ago. The colors in this picture represent the Enchanted Island almost perfectly. One can find stories of their own in the appreciation of art without physically being there, however, if you ever get the chance to visit, I highly recommend it.
