All change starts with a single child whose eyes are filled with wonder. The wonder of a humming bird. Humming Bird represents our ancestors. When this sense of awe has filled the child, this child shares their experience with other children who are becoming men and women and who also remember their own child like curiosity at life. Soon whole populations become aware of life, of love, of peace.

The title, the Dalai Lama, is Mongolian and was first used by a great grand son of Kublai Khan, King Altan Khan, to address a Tibetan Monk. In 1578, the Tibetan Buddhist Monk, Sonam Gyatso had been invited to Mongolia to have a conversation with the Mongolian King about the nature of compassion within the human mind. Altan Khan, King of the Tümed Mongols was so impressed with the effects these teachings had on his own mind, the power to release him from his own personal suffering of his imagination, that he took on the practice of Buddhism along with his tribe.
