Anna's Prickly Pear is inspired by the symbiotic. relationship between the prickly pear cactus and hummingbird, particularly the" Anna's Hummingbird."
The prickly pear is very beautiful in all stages of growth. I tried to mimic the movement of Anna with smaller pieces of glass that dance in the sunlight.

The glass is from a shop that caters to the artist and many of the pieces are unique to each firing. They are thick and opaque with a few reflective pieces to capture light. My ultimate goal as a mosaic artist is to have a lightness of being or movement with the subject matter chosen.

The piece is large and I see it in a sunroom, large bathroom or a teal wall to bring out the greens.

I've framed it in a beveled gold frame but if I were framing it for myself it would be much larger, gold and ornate to drive the garden feel. This can be easily reframed but the current frame has a nice bevel and weight to carry it off.
