The Ocean Drum is a membranophone whose vibrations are created by the movement of the brass beads over the membrane. The gourd is the resonator and amplifies the sound of the surf. The Ocean Drum represents a love of natural sound and our attempts to capture the uncapturable – as if we could hold the sea in our hands.

This drum is 13.5 inches in diameter with metallic inks, dyes, a focal lead crystal bead, and a sprinkling of stars. It is wrapped with a band of webbing anchored with upholstery nails.
