The Scrimshaw Eagle is etched on a polished 2 3/4" x 1 1/2" white, oval slab of corian. Corian is an ivory alternative material. It is colored with black, waterproof India ink. To preserve the delicate artwork, it is sealed with several coats of archival wax. The corian slab is firmly set on a hand made, sealed backing which is made of 1/8" walnut hardwood. It has a brass hook and D ring which will fit a 1 1/2" width snap type belt. This is an original scrimshaw item and not a reproduction.
