Jean-Michel Basquiat has always inspired me as an artist. Much of my work tries to incorporate his style. I admire his unique style and the way in which he created simple art full of so much passion and truth. This piece was created from pure intuition and very little thought was put into any concepts. When I create art in this way, I always get the best results. I named it Funky City as an after-thought. Contemplating a name, it seemed like this piece reflected something of a "funky city," a city full of unique and artistic individuals all coming together and sharing a creative and positive energy.
