I am an untrained artist. My junior and senior high school art teachers failed to teach me art, rather, they just gave us assignments and materials. I excelled at art and enjoyed it.

In 1975, my freshman year, I won 1st place in Kansas State Art Competition in pencil.

In 1976, my sophomore year, I won 1st place in Kansas State Art Competition in pastels.

In 1977, my junior year, the only year I deserved to win, I won 1st place in Kansas State Art Competition in pen and ink .

In 1978, 12th grade, my senior year, I won 1st place in Kansas State Art Competition in acrylic painting. I always saw a better artist that deserved to win more than me.

In 3rd grade, I did a burlap and woven yarn piece of a hawk on a tree branch and saw it A DOZEN YEARS LATER on the cover of an art competition for youth in Kansas.

I accepted an Art scholarship at Emporia State, Kansas, but after realizing the teacher had zero talent and the students in college were worse than the students I had in high school, I walked out of class on my second week and never did art again for 40 years. I started doing art again two years ago, in 2017. I'm trying to express what I have learned to be true about the world and life, not what I know about art, because I don't know anything about art.
