Bela Mardia is a self-trained Indian artist whose paintings are uninfluenced by conventional styles of art. Her piece de resistance is the knife-palette style of painting. The plethora of artwork including abstract, semi-abstract, figurative & portrait paintings in acrylic & oil created straight out of her living room have resided in various art galleries over the years, and have captivated patrons with a keen eye.

Bela's paintings have been greatly inspired by her childhood memories & natural rustic settings portrayed with a blurry effect that will walk you down the memory lane. Particularly fond of deeper tones, many of Bela's knife paintings are a product of pure imagination, appearing to be mysterious alternate worlds which are in fact regular scenes, portrayed in semi-abstract form.

Themes of Bela's work primarily revolve around the portrayal of an outdoor setting. She uses the palette knife with extreme finesse, that evinces expressiveness & sets it apart from regular brush stroke painting. The creaminess and intensity of paint achieved through knife make it possible to create effects of reflections, masses of houses in the background or thin lines that render a three-dimensional quality to the painting.
