Bonnie Lorenzen is a native of Loudoun County, Virginia. She discovered at an early age that she had a love for the arts - drawing cartoons from TV in addition to writing and composing music. She studied art & music throughout high school.
Her love of the arts was only matched by her love of horses and trail riding as she became a successful breeder of the American Saddlebred. It wasn’t until recently she stumbled upon Bob Ross on YouTube and became amazed with his style of painting, regenerating her love for painting. She learned his “Wet on Wet” technique and began creating her own style of painting not only through Bob’s tutelage, but other contemporary artists

Being raised on a dairy farm in Bluemont, Virginia - She is inspired by nature, expressing through her works a strong emotional expression that is characterized by vivid colors, juxtaposition of complements and plays of light and dark. Whether she is painting a landscape, flower or portrait, each idea manifests in its own individual style. She uses a variety of media including acrylics, oils and watercolors. She believes working in a single medium restricts the creative process. Bonnie feels that to grow as an artist one must continually get out of one’s comfort zone, to experiment and challenge oneself through multiple genres.

Bonnie enjoys reading and studying the history of various Artists such as Van Gogh, Claude Monet, Renoir, Manet, Gauguin and many more. She feels an artist should not only paint but expose themselves to the many different techniques and styles throughout history.
