www.ArtPal.com/artbyurmiI was born and raised in India but have lived in Oregon for over 30 years now and in Veneta for most of it. I am a self-taught artist although have known since my childhood that I needed to express myself. I started painting in earnest, after a sudden heart attack in July of 2009, to pull myself out of the initial onset of depression. Painting gave me an avenue to move through the obstacles of emptiness and fear.
I admire, observe and learn from other artists and try to feel their intentions and sense their motivation. I like to try new things, experiment, make mistakes, make things up and in doing so I have found a sense of creative audacity in watercolors, pencils, chalks, pastels, and yes, markers.
