Michael Arnephie is a prolific local talented Artist who is able to blend and morph his art into various contemporary styles and medium, translating the aesthetic visions of his mind's eye into modern day cutting edge graphics digital illustrations. Born in 1968, Michael hails from Anse Boileau Seychelles where he spent most of his childhood, soaking in the images of Island life and times of the Wild West coast of Mahe. He attended the district school at junior level, moving on to Seychelles College and eventually the Seychelles Polytechnic in 1986 to study fine art. His keen early interest in photography and Art translated into a body of work which today transcends and creates a genus of virtuosity fusion art. In 1987, Michael migrated to Melbourne, Australia to be further exposed to the creative world of graphics, fashion and design. He embarked on a career as a freelance designer for top Australian lifestyle fashion houses such as Hang Ten, Ocean Breeze, Amco Jeans, and Slazenger Sportswear. He continued dabbling in his painting and participated in numerous exhibitions and community art projects throughout Australia. Michael returned to Seychelles in 2001 to set up High Tech Graphics, a leading advertising & branding agency that set the benchmark in the local corporate identity field. He created several well-known brands such as Creole Travel Services, Zil Air (logo and helicopter livery) and the award winning "Selebre Sesel" airplane livery of the Air Seychelles domestic fleet. He has also designed numerous logos for other companies including the label for the ubiquitous tuna cans of I.O.T Seychelles tuna canning factory sold worldwide. Michael has currently his own surf brand M Arnephie Seychelles which is sold through selected outlets and hotels in Seychelles. His exhibits are a cross section of his myriad skills. He boasts a variety style, From complex realistic illustrations to basic culturally influenced impressions of Seychelles from modernizing the past to current lifestyle of Seychellois life. He is influenced by Marianne North, the prolific English Victorian naturalist / botanist artist who brought countless Seychelles sceneries to life. Michael has created his own style with the melding of his modern commercial side. He crosses over several mediums and illustrates in a vector format before bringing his subjects to life. Michael is an avid fisherman and seadog who would spend all his life on the ocean if he had the luxury to do so! He is active as a committee member for both the Seychelles Sport Fishing Club & Seychelles Yacht Club. And were it not for his artistic and graphics creator calling, he would have been out there in the deep blue yonder permanently!
