Ngurah Arya Arnawa, artist painter, has traveled abroad to exhibit his paintings : Japan, Singapore, Australia and Europe. Born in Denpasar but grew up in the northern town of Singaraja, where his father was a teacher.
Arnawa’s earlier work concentrated on traditional Balinese scenes such as landscaping, temple ceremony, markets, village and portraits, captured in colorful oils and acrylic. An increasing interest in the ancient Hindu epic tales of the Ramayana and Mahabrata inspired him to change the focus of his art in the late 1985. His work is now dedicated to depicting scenes from these epics, motivated by spreading the Hindu philosophy of “motivasi diri” or “living a good life”. Arnawa believes the theme explored in the Ramayana and Mahabrata are universal and timeless and should not be forgotten. His more recent works are rich topestries of vibrant reds and golds; recognizable scenes set in intricate details.
