There's beauty in pleasant remembrance in the power of retro elements. In my paintings, these matters of nostalgia are shuffled into a space where they’re reimagined to convey an uncanny presence. Recontextualization of 90s nostalgia and classical artworks is important in my work because it demonstrates how these historical elements have a charming and familiar, ghost-like quality since these things are taken out of their original context and assigned new meaning. My works present these ideas in a humorous and light-hearted way and breathe new meaning and life into old pop culture. My paintings become spaces where I can bend historical boundaries through absurdity and juxtaposition.
