Ant Crampton is a well-travelled South African artist who has had solo exhibitions in Hong Kong, South Africa and Dubai. His work hangs in private collections around the world. He studied Art at the Durban University of Technology and worked as a Creative Director in multinational ad agencies in Hong Kong for 20 years.
His 'Afrika' work is his latest exposition that explores African wildlife through the use of vibrant blocks of colour with a spontaneous paint drip technique that adds a texture to the canvas. These are bold portraits of animals that catch your eye and stare back at you, holding your gaze as you move around the room. Ant says 'I wanted to treat animal portraits like people, get up close to them to show their vulnerability, I also wanted to look at wildlife imagery in a fresh contemporary way'.
