We think about our planet a lot and wanted to come up with an idea how to support it with our knowledge and what we like doing. We totally fell for the idea that trash, something you want to get out of your sight quickly, can create something beautiful, art. That is how cART was created - an analogue camera using the pin-hole or camera obscura optical phenomenon.
Camera obscura has been known since the ancient times and used to create the first photograph ever in the 19th century. There are no lenses used, the picture is reflected directly and therefore it is rather specific looking - soft, a little blurred, moody. As it is an analogue technique, you can also see the film grain, which is a different type of visual noise than the digital image noise from digital cameras we are nowadays used to. We are using 4x5 inch black-and-white negatives and exposure time from hours to 30-60 seconds on a sunny day.
