Anabela Gil was born in 1975 in Figueira da Foz, Portugal, lived in Cartagena, Colombia, and has lived in Houston, Texas since 2015.
In 1994 she started to work in decorative arts, in plaster, ceramic, and glass painting.
In 2009 she started to paint on canvas in a self-taught way. Later she attended Massimo Esposito's painting studio, where she learned to improve some techniques.
In 2014 she attended the University of Fine Arts of Cartagena de Indias to improve her drawing skills.
For Anabela, painting is a hobby, a pleasure, a way of expressing fun, an escape from the seriousness, and her way of coloring the world, finding the balance between black and white.
She participated in several collective and personal art exhibitions in Portugal and Colombia.
She likes drawing and learning new techniques. Her commitment is always evident in her works. Mostly surrealistic, her themes touch intimate and profound thoughts of life. She uses colors in a very refined and naturally feminine way.
