Xanet Calbet: Illustrator with the touch of dreams.
I am based in Melbourne, Australia, with family that originates in Spain.
I traveled a lot with my family as a child, and well into my teenage years. I lived in Venezuela, Trinidad and Tobago, Canada, Spain, Germany and, as a young adult, England. I later returned to Australia where I was born, a country I had left with my family at the age of two. I loved to learn the many different traditions, folklore and musical styles everywhere I went.
With my illustrations, I hope to open new vistas full of optimism and vitality, with the touch of lucid day-dreaming. I think that my illustrations show women empowered, feminine and strong, adventurous and caring, at once suffused by their environment and owners of their will.
I think my illustrations can be seen as vignettes of comic strips, part of a story but, at the same time, reaching for realism: pop-art that takes itself seriously.
I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed my immersion into those worlds whilst I was making them.
